Addons

Addon Management Overview

The free Kitbix Commerce build ships with seven addons: Live Purchase Toast, Live View Counter, Payment Trust Badge, Product Q&A, Related Products, Shipping Cutoff Clock, and WhatsApp Contact Button. All of them are toggled from Kitbix Commerce → Addons as shown in the screenshot.

Addon manager anatomy

  • Categories: Pills across the top filter addons by Product, Checkout, Marketing, Integration, and UX.
  • Cards: Each addon card shows a toggle, short description, and inline settings (e.g., message templates, limits, CTA colors).
  • Live preview cues: Some cards include sample text “Order ships now” or “Live view counter” so you know how the UI should look.
  • Saved state: Settings persist immediately through AddonRegistry::updateSettings(); no separate “Save” button exists on the listing screen.

Capture a fresh shot any time you introduce or remove addons.

Setup workflow

  1. Go to Kitbix Commerce → Addons and toggle on an addon.
  2. Fill the inline settings (message template, cutoff times, etc.).
  3. Open the addon’s detail doc from the list above to configure any per-product hooks.
  4. Load the storefront page that uses the addon (product page, cart, checkout) and verify the UI matches expectations.
  5. Log the enabled addons in your go-live checklist so future releases can compare.

Tips & best practices

Tip: Keep message templates short and localized; every addon string passes through AddonRegistry::getSettings() so translations can hook in.
Tip: Test addons on staging with dummy orders (for toast/Q&A) before enabling them in production.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving WhatsApp or toast add-ons enabled without providing a phone number/message template—nothing renders until required fields are filled.
  • Expecting Product Q&A to populate automatically. Your team must approve entries via Kitbix Commerce → Product Q&A.
Reminder: Disabling an addon hides its UI but keeps saved settings. You can safely toggle off an addon temporarily without losing configuration.
